Minnie’s story: breaking down the barriers 

As a recipient of scholarships supporting women and UK nationals educated in state schools, Minnie Crampton MBA2025 passionately champions women’s empowerment and social mobility.

Minnie Crampton MBA2025, 93% and 30% Club Award 

Prior to joining London Business School, I worked in Accenture UK’s Public Sector Strategy Practice as a Strategy Manager. In this role I specialised in operating model design and led this area of the practice for two years. I developed and delivered training to over 200 people, mentored two women on the team and led projects to help public sector clients transform. I decided to pursue an MBA to accelerate my career in consulting and set myself up for success in the future by getting a broader industry viewpoint. 

I’ve been lucky enough to receive two generous scholarships – one from the 30% Club for women and the other from the 93% Club for UK nationals educated in state schools. I was very touched to receive these scholarships because I simply wouldn’t be able to attend LBS without them and, because they address causes close to my heart.  

I am passionate about social mobility and in my spare time I volunteer with The Prince’s Trust (renamed The King’s Trust), supporting students who are no longer in mainstream school to improve their academic attainment. I also volunteer with students who attend UK state schools to help them get into Russell Group universities. It is really important for me as there are people who have so many talents and so much potential but lack connections or the knowledge of how to navigate a university application or simply the confidence to make that jump. 

I believe increasing representation of women and other under-represented groups is central to achieving the goals of the MBA programme and LBS in general. Without the wealth of experience and diverse viewpoints of the student body, LBS wouldn’t be the place it is today, and the student experience wouldn’t be so rich. It is simply the right thing to do.  

It is important for influential schools like LBS to champion the best people to achieve their potential and have a positive impact on their communities and beyond. Without the support of scholarships, this simply wouldn’t be possible.

By diversifying the business school graduates you can see this impact replicated in the business world. Women continue to miss out on senior positions or have to navigate company culture not fit for women, but if you give them a platform at a business school to enter board rooms, you help break down those barriers in the business world and beyond. 

The reality of studying at LBS has exceeded all my expectations. It has been extremely enriching, in and out of the classroom. I’m excited for the next few months as I get stuck into some subjects that I’m really passionate about.
