Scholars’ Welcome Event 2024

Celebrating LBS’s 2024 scholarship recipients, this event highlighted personal journeys, the transformative power of scholarships and the impact of the Forever Forward fundraising campaign.

On Thursday 26 September, 300 incoming 2024 scholarship recipients attended the Scholars’ Welcome Event. This event celebrated the exceptional talent LBS attracts through its scholarship programme, significantly supported by the Forever Forward campaign. The event highlighted the beginning of an exciting journey for the new scholars as they join the LBS community and its global network. 

Associate Dean of Advancement, Emily Robin, opened the event with a warm congratulations to the scholars. She shared her personal experience as both a recipient and a donor, emphasising the transformative impact of scholarships. MBA2025 student Neeshtha Bholah, a female engineer from Mauritius and recipient of the Vodafone Group Foundation Scholarship – Sir Christopher Gent Award and Forté Fellow, also shared her personal journey. She reflected on her path to LBS, emphasising the importance of staying true to what makes you unique, and shared her aspirations for the future.  

The event also featured a conversation between Emily Robin and Savio Kwan MSc09(1976), during which Savio shared his inspiring journey from being a once-rejected LBS applicant to becoming a scholarship recipient, and ultimately rising to the roles of Chairman of Alibaba and Chair of the Campaign Leadership Board at LBS. His incredible career trajectory shows the transformative power of education and opportunity. Dean Sergei Guriev concluded the event, emphasising the scholars’ roles in shaping the future of the School.
