The EUROUT scholarship was founded in 2023 by MBA students and co-chairs of the Out in Business Club, Cameron Martin and Jay Hamilton, with investment from two alumni board members. Now in its third year, additional donors are sought to expand the award, to bring diverse perspectives to the industries the scholars will shape, reflecting the values of inclusion and excellence that define London Business School.

Scholarship recipients themselves, Martin and Hamilton chose to study at LBS to benefit from the diversity of minds and experiences on offer. “We were proud of this diversity and knew that there was room for us to nurture it and see it grow,” says Hamilton. “During the first year of our MBA, we had an idea spark on the role we could play: we could create a scholarship.”

While progress has been made to foster inclusivity within UK higher education, demand for scholarships continues to outpace availability, leaving many talented individuals unable to pursue their goals. For LGBTQIA+ students, financial challenges are often compounded by family rejection and systemic discrimination.

The EUROUT Scholarship directly addresses this. It builds on LBS’s long-standing commitment to LGBTQIA+ inclusion. From the creation of PINK@LBS 25 years ago – our first LGBTQIA+ network – to the evolution of initiatives like Out in Business and EUROUT, to our Stonewall Diversity Champion partnership, the School has consistently championed inclusivity.

The EUROUT scholarship helps dismantle barriers and create a world where students, regardless of their background or identity, have the opportunity to thrive and lead.

According to McKinsey’s Diversity Wins report, organisations that prioritise inclusivity see measurable benefits in innovation, performance and team dynamics. By supporting the EUROUT Scholarship, donors can invest in this transformative potential at the very foundation – business education.
